Web 2.0 in NZ
Just looking at KRIS Kiwi Research Information Service , http://nzresearch.org.nz/. A lot of NZ institutions are a part of this project run by the National library. The nzresearch.org.nz harvester gathers information about documents stored in research repositories from around New Zealand, and assembles them in one database. If a researcher uploads a document to their own institution's research repository, and the institution is part of the project, their research will be picked up by KRIS. The website itself only stores information like the title, authors, URL, and subject.

Geek & Crafter Hangouts in Christchurch
I have been reading about DIY social networks. Until today I didn't know there was such a thing as a "geek crafter", let alone that they congregate at pubs in Chch!!

I have a podcast feed, now how do I listen to it!
Well I've set up my iGoogle pages with lots of RSS feeds coming in. I love being able to see all the updates easily. I have added my sister-in-law's blog - she is an artist in London and has an amazingly attractive and interesting blog, as is to be expected from such a creative person!
But I have hit a bit of a brick wall with the podcast thing. I have a podcast feed from RNZ added to my iGoogle pages but I can't listen to the podcasts. Apparently you have to download software such as iTunes, but the library computeres don't let you do that! Any suggestions welcomed.

Day 1 of CCL Learn
When confronting new information technologies, it is apparently all about attitude and capabilities, rather than being an "expert". I think my attitude could do with a bit of work - a little less frustration in my encounters with technology would be a good thing! And maybe a bit less reliance on the teenagers in the house might enhance my capabilities.
